best way to raise motor

I have a 15' semi-v alum. boat with an old 18hp evinrude. My problem is I need to raise the motor so the cavatation plate is close to or even with the bottom of the boat. How would be the best way to do this? My motor is a long shaft and runs like a dream but cavatates alot. <br />Any help is welcome.

If it cavatates now it will be worse if you raise it. Where is the plate now in relation to the bottom? Maybe the hub is slipping.<br /><br />Good luck!
