goof-off. but be careful that stuff is not safe on rubber so use only a tiny amount on a rag.

DMSO is the only thing that I have found to be real effective on silicone, tough stuff to get off once it drys, but is possible.

Alcohol on a rag will cause it to ball up and fall off.

When typical cleaners don't work (i.e., degreasers, alcohol, etc.), I use carburetor cleaner. If that doesn't work, I'll go to the engine starting fluid (ether) in an aerosol can. Between these two, I've been able to remove everything I've ever needed to remove over many years. Either is safe for glass and can be removed fairly easily after it's done its work.

The easiest way for me is to not get it on there to begin with. Before placing the glass test fit, tape all around with painters tape say about 1/16th from where the glass meets the wood. Tape the wood the same way. Putty it up,lay it in,with a wet finger rub off the excess, and be sure to carefully remove the tape right away. Turns out real nice!. Done quite a few on boats this way,and boaters are picky! No complaints yet.
