Use to know a way using wax and cut thin enough to spray on, now just buy silicone spray.

Acrylic canvas such as Sunbrella can be re-waterproofed, but it is important to use the right type of formula. Never use a silicone-based agent on acrylic canvas. The factory waterproofing uses a fluorocarbon, which is incompatible with silicone, and it would result in a patchy and ineffective waterproofing.

Scotchgard is flourocarbon. I have had good luck with it. Not cheap though.

I used 303 on my Sunbrella which was recommended by the manufacturer. Scrubbed it with a soft brush and the 303 cleaner that worked real well as well. Gave it a good rinse and let it get bone dry in the sun before spraying with the 303 Fabric guard.

Glad someone else posted my question :)

How about tips for cleaning it? or recommended products? My boat canvas is due for a good cleaning. Between the birds and bugs...nothing good comes of that.

Warm soapy water and a soft bristle brush. A little (1/2 cup) color-safe bleach diluted in the water won't harm anything as long as it's not allowed to dry on the cover. Scrub lightly and rinse throughly with fresh water. Allow to dry approx 80% then put it back on the boat damp. If allowed to dry without any tension on it, it will have a tendance to draw up and fitting it will suck.

My canvas is tan coloured and bleach scares me (should i miss any in the rinse). Soapy water and a brush i'm good with. Are we talking about "mr clean" type soap or dish soap or ?
