When running My Johnson 1979 115 V4 I noticed Fuel Leaking. One of the cable ties had broken off. I replaced it the majority of the leak ceased. I noticed fuel was still escaping from the line. There was a small pin hole in the same line, must have happened with screwdriver tightening the shift rod bolt.

I like to Know the best way to fix it since its the carburetor closest to the lower unit. It has a cable tie on it its to tight to get to. I would like to take off just the one carburetor, and fix anybody got a line on achieving this .Thanks

If you haven't done so yet, now would be a good time to take them all off and replace the fuel lines with modern alcohol resistant lines.

Otherwise, you just disconnect the linkages and remove the bottom carb. I don't know how to describe it any different.

Thanks Iwombat The lines look brand new. I just recently picked this boat
up. The gut I bought it from paid the wrench to go all through it. Great suggestion to replace all the lines.

But the wrench beat me to it. I see the linkage on the port side of the carburetor, do I just unscrew the screw with the plastic in it to loosen the linkage? Once again no shop manual on this one!
Thanks for the heads up!

I've actually found that in the long run it's easier (and probably quicker) to remove the top carb anyway. The linkage will pop out of the plastic. When it goes back together the screw will loosen so you can do your sync-n-link adjustments.

Dhadley are you suggesting taking both off so you dont have to adjust the linkage; just keeping them close and linked and pop them back on? or do you still have to adjust the linkage if you take both off. Thanks for your reply

You'll need to set the linkages anyway, even if you only remove 1 carb. It takes about 20 seconds after the carbs are back on. Just pop the links out and remove both carbs, things will probably be much easier.
