Better Fix?

I was fighting a leak last season, could not find anything causing it until I had to change a bunk last week. The gelcoat was scrapped in a small area hidden by the bunk. It was not a really bad leak, maybe had to flip the bilge on every 1/2 hr. to 45 min's or so to pump out a gal. I used 3M 5200 as a test/quick fix just to see if that was my problem...It was! After 2 hours on the water, 1/2 the time WOT & 1/2 just sitting, no water, not a single drop. Is there a small gelcoat repair kit I can buy? I don't really want to get into a full blown project with a ton of down time. I'm looking for my ******** catalog to see what they carry, but can't seem to be able to find. Idea's/ sugg's? Ayuh,... How Big,..??

You said you already put 5200 in it,...

Why the need to do more,..?? You'll need to atleast dig/ grind out the 5200....

I've used Marine-tex, 'n held it "In-place" with tape, when workin' up-side-down...

Re: Better Fix?

Sorry, it's about 6" long. After doing some research on this I guess I goofed a bit by putting the 5200 into it. Ya, when I do the correct repair I'll need to get the 5200 out of there. I should have done the research before I put the 5200 in there,(guess I was just a bit excited at the fact I had found the problem), who knows, the 5200 might be good enough. Atleast for this summer.

The 5200 wil hold until you find time to do it properly. Marine Tex or Formula 27 will both be fine for the repair. They are available in white and off-white for almost invisable repairs. Simply fill in the gouge (feather out the edges first), fill, sand to a flush finish after it dries thoroughly.
