As I may to buy an older boat, I am likely to find that it is not equipped with the best fuel-water trap filter?

To increase the chances of having a lasting pleasant boating experience, which filter would serve me best?
I am in the camp of buying it once and good than screw around with problems

Additional note: "older boat" may mean older 2-stroke, or newer EFI 4-stroke, .and requirements are different as I understand.

You are getting way ahead of yourself.
Many "Older Boats" will not have any Water-Trap Filters on them at all.
It is notable that they have been running just fine for decades without one.
You are likely to find dozens of other problem on your "New to you" boat that will need to be addressed.
If it "Ain't" broken, don't fix it! Don't go looking for problems that don't exist.
