Better Gas Consumption After Break In?

Hi All: I just bought a new boat (Eastern 24') & it has a new Honda BF150 on back. I'm simply "stunned" @ the gas consumption!!! It uses fuel like it comes out of an eye-dropper!! I have 12 hours on her & I'm wondering....After say 30 hours or so, will I receive even better consumption ratios?

I just love my new Honda 4-Stroke. We are sold our Robalo 20' w/ a Mariner 135 2-Stroke (V6 carburated) & that engine was a flat out fuel hog! It's a good engine, but the money were going to save this year will be worth the Honda price tag.

Regards,

Alex

The engine will get better after break in. The engine is too tight before break in. Therefore, you have more friction. You need to wear those parts a little bit so that they will move a little easier. I had the same thing during my break in of 4stroke. It gets a lot better with time.

tee-boy: Many thanks! I'll be looking for a little better gas consumption. I'm so damn happy with my new Honda BF150. It's whisper quite & easy @ the pump. Considering the gas prices @ the dock are $2.50 (93 Octane) this will save us $$$$

Alex

Does a Honda BF 150 require 93 octane?
