hello and good day, let me start out by saying how awesome I think this site is!!!
I have a 1988 sunray,w/ a 2.3 litter ford motor and an omc stern drive. right now I have a couple of props, a 13 1/4 x 19 and 13 1/4 x 17. my top end speed is 40 mph@4500 rpm. I have a terrible hole shot. I would like a better hole shot to tow skiers and tubers. I understand I will loose top end, but the hole shot is more inportant. Should I use a 4 blade, stainless? any and all help would be greatly appreciated.
thx Rob.

Re: better hole shot

I would assume that 40 mph@4500 rpm is achieved with the 17 pitch propeller, you would more likely get a better hole shot with a 15 pitch propeller. I just changed to a 4 blade and 2" increase in pitch and my hole shot was not decreased by much and got much better speed in middle range. A decrease in pitch AND a 4 blade will most probably give you better hole shot without much loss in speed in the middle range.

To get the hold shot you are looking for and the preformance go with a 4 blade stainless.

Depending on what prop you get the 4500 at, drop 1" in pitch when going to a 4 blade.
