Better prop for a 2003 Tohatsu 9.9HP 4 stroke

I have a 2003 Tohatsu MFS9.9B2 4 stroke. It runs well and it is on a Carolina Skiff J16. It has the stock prop that I believe that it is an 8 pitch. I am just trying to eke out as much speed as I can without having to get a larger engine. I see that most responders want to know TACH at WOT and speed. I will get my speed from a GPS app but this model engine does not have a tach. How would you suggest getting a tach reading on it? And is that necessary?

If you can get us a good gps speed 2 directions relatively smooth water
we can get an idea where you ar at.Not enough info for any prop changes.
A tinytach will work on any motor with a spark.They have a web site.
