Check out your after market oil seals. I just had a blow out. Sierra sent me 4 oil seals with plain STEEL tension springs. I put them in. Then I put the boat in salt water and two days later oil on the prop. Took it apart....springs rusted apart....went to Evinrude dealer and got the right ones. The OEM versions where a might bit more on the stout side I might add. For me, now on, only OEM oil seals! <br /> I think the springs should be 302 stainless steel. They should have only a slight stick to a magnet. What was left of the Sierra seals stuck but good.

I am with ya walleyehed. I dont use much of any aftermarket stuff. the crossflow pistons seem ok as do the electronics, the seals and head gaskets are not worth the trouble to open the package.

I put a Sierra waterpump kit in my 89-150 this sping.Haha,Now I know why you all say a new kit every year.It dont have as much pressure now as it did when I put it in.So,I get to put in another before it goes back to the water.I even said it looked better than oem.

never had a problem with the pump kits. but anything with small amounts of steel seems to be low quality.
