Any feed back on what could be causing engine light alarm on 2006 bf225 to go off at idle/trolling speed. The motor seems to run rough for only a second or two then the engine light comes on and alarm sounds at 1 sec intervals. It seems to perform perfectly at higher RPM's . It only has 140 hrs. Any feed back would be greatly appreciated!

Re: BF225 alarm engine light

I have a 2008 BF225 and just got a letter from Honda Marine today extending the warranty to 6 years on the oxygen sensors. Hopefully yours would be covered since it is a 2006. I had a 5 year indeclinable warranty on mine when I bought it.
Having said that, the blinking light would tend to indicate water in the separator filter. I would suspect the oxygen sensor.

Unless something has changed on newer models, you describe a PGM-FI malfunction (fuel injection), 'engine' light illuminates and buzzer sounds at 1 sec intervals. It's the same alarm that sounds when you turn the key on ...

Yes I am under warranty but the closest dealer can't get to it for a few weeks and I would rather buy the replacement 02 sensor online and install myself.
Then after this season have the service bulletin # 56 work done so that not to miss many days on the water.
