Here is what happened : we were going not quite WOT about 5700-5800 rpms when the motor made a big clanking noise and froze up. After getting it home I removed the sparkplugs
and discovered that the igniter on the middle cylinder plug had been sheared off. My guess is that the piston arm or wrist pin failed and caused it to overstroke, but I do not know. Anyway the motor has over 4000 hrs on it and has been routinely maintained. It is a 1994 Honda bf45a lrta . My question is it worth rebuilding or should I purchase a new one. Any
ideas of what could of made it seize would be appreciated.

At that stated rpm you were going near wot, it's a 2 or 4 stroker ? Check which new parts will need including hand labor cost, a professional overhauled engine is near having a new one. By the way 4 k hours, are all world hours :D
