How many on here are avid cyclists and how many are on Strava? Would be fun to follow each other if you are on there.

Doing a Century ride this weekend in Paso Robles. Anyone else do centuries?

I think that picture was taken 20 years before texting came around based on the tires and the helmets.

The way I see it and 18 spoke Tubular wheelset is still pretty state of the art in high level racing other than the rim may be carbon now And 23 years later my new bike does have a carbon fork and has advanced from 7 to 10 speeds as I don't feel the new 11 speed will do well in the mud , Metal is still very much in the custom bike market and carbon prices have been driven so high metal is starting to come back

I know...$1000 seems a bit high for a set of wheels!

Those Superflys are nice bikes. 29ers are becoming very popular lately.....

I obviously had no idea what Strava was, as you imagined, I thought it was a type of bike...lol That Strava deal is pretty cool. Man, if I signed up for that I would probably be riding more since I could be monitored by others ....lol The only thing about mtn bikes is you don't put the miles on like a road bike. I'm trying to think, it's something like 3:1 road vs mtn bikes as far as getting the same amount of a workout. We do have a set of wheels for the road which work ok, but, we still have the weight of the mtn ride....

I need to put on my snow tires first........ :)

Re: Bicycle Riding -- Strava

My miles are both road and mountain but what is really fun is that if you do the same route over and over, you can track your times over the same route or your friends who also ride the same route. You can use you smart phone with the Strava app or do what I do and upload my rides from my GPS.

I agree on the 3 to one ratio for MTB vs road as long as the road ride is flat.

WOW, those are nice!
Last racing bike I owned was a mid 1970's Peugeot, aluminum frame, leather saddle, 10 speed.
All was great till I grew out of it, frame was not big enough and the saddle tube kept bending that far out of the frame.
