Just got done rebuilding a 94' Evinrude 120hp (E120TLERC) and couldn't be happier with the results this far. I got a deal on it b/c of a dead cylinder, and was partially disassembled where the shop called it quits. So with all the work done after a months time and the power head fixed, I have one last piece to solve before I take her out on the water. There is a foot long (or more)hose attached to a fitting on the front of the crank case, and nobody I've asked up to this point seems to know where it goes? The fitting can be found on the "exploded view" diagram for parts as #12, part # 317121 — FITTING, VENT . Can anyone tell me where this solo hose line is supposed to be connected? Much thanks in advance.

Didn’t look at the diagram but....my 97, E200xxx, the “hose to nowhere” gets stuck in a hole in the corner of the air box

Well I did in fact see a hole at the very top of the ait silencer (port side, back facing flywheel), but it doesn't want to stay in that hole without strapping it to the top of the VRO brace, etc. Because the hole is a little larger than the hose line. Itself. Furthermore, when I first began starting and running the motor up to temp, I noticed there is a vacuum through this hose... Almost enough to keep it suctioned to my finger! Now if there is one thing I know about 2 stroke motors, the last thing you want is an air leak. It's bothering me that this hose line is sucking air.

Bump..

Thanks dingbat for responding.. If you could verify your info from the diagram I could put my mind at ease and would be very appreciative.

Does anyone have a solid answer for me here?

Funny, the only fitting on the diagram that doesn’t have a hose shown connecting to it.

All the other fittings reference a hose in the parts list
