UPDATE , the team and fish may be disqualified because one crew member did not buy a fishing license for $5.00 . The prize money is being held pending review . Big Rock rules require everyone aboard the boat must have a valid fishing license.

Should be posted in "Stupid human tricks while fishing" I know the mate feels bad but how are you a mate for hire without a fishing license? I know, charter boats , blah blah blah, he's covered, but WTF was he thinking?

Re: Big Rock Marlin Tournament 883 lbs

I live in Carteret County where the Big Rock is held. All the locals are asking why the capt. didn't have a license for the whole boat. For about $250, there wouldn't have been a question. When you have a boat in a tournament that big, why chance it? When the final ruling came out, the capt. left the guy sittin' at the dock, told him to walk home. The story is that the mate told the capt. that he had a license but it was at the motel in his bag. When they hooked up and realized it was big, he went online (satelite connection) and bought a license over the internet. He knew he was wrong.
