Combing through the forums I found yet another nugget! I didn't even think about the boat "warping" with the stringers removed. Since I don't have a trailer a trip to the lumber yard is in order to get another 6x6 for a main beam, then I will use various lengths of 2x6 with wedges cut to fit between the main beams of my "crib"and the 2x6s where they come into contact with the hull (along the chines). The iboats forum has been INDISPENSIBLE in helping me to plan this fix-up!

search hull extension in progress.....it had a picture of a movable cradle that will not hook or warp a hull.

in the hull ext thread there is an index on the first page

If leave the cap on , it'll hold the shape.

not nessecerarily bud....

some of the boats were so glass weak that a roller trailer can leave permanant bumps in the hull.....even with the foam and stringers still in place.

better to be sure than take a chance.
