1987 Yamaha 115 with a 12" prop (not sure of pitch). Came off a 18' V hull fiberglass.
Now on a big aluminium jon boat, 24'L X 8' W. 3/16 plate. Way heavier boat.
WOT RPMs got up to 6500 before automatic shutoff. Took awhile to get there.
We use this boat at slow speeds, pushing & towing other boats in confined areas. Almost anything will make the current prop ventalate. Turns, wakes, reverse is even worse. The boat is slow to respond at "above idle". Hardly any steerage untill 2,000 RPMs. I think I'm under proped.
I want a 14" X 17" pitch SS prop. Advice? Thanks,

I think the biggest you are going to find is going to be a 13 1/4 x 17. There are a couple of 14" diameter props made for that lower unit, but they have real low pitch's, they are made for pontoons or house boats. You might try calling powertech propellers to see what they have available. They make a few different sizes for those. 1-800-736-7767

Thanks. I have found a Solas 3 blade 14.8-19. Is 19 considered a low pitch @ that cia.?
Another they have is as you describe, 3 blade 14 - 11. Nobody is water sking or tournament fishing from this boat. The quest is for brute strength. Am I in the neighborhood with either of these ?
