1999 Mercruiser BIII. I have the leg removed. What's the next step for gaining access to replace the bellows? Thanks.
Should I assume the Bell Housing comes next, followed by the Gimbal Ring? Do I really need to drill an inch and a quarter (1 1/4") hole in the gimbal housing?

Re: BIII bellows

For some reason (probably because I'm not to computer savvy), I'm having trouble "downloading" or opening the manual. A 4shared or such comes up, but it won't open the pdf. Do I need to subscribe/login to that site? There's a picture of what appears to be the Manual cover merCruiser Service Manual Number 11 with the Bravo Sterndrives, but it just will not open. Thanks in advance for the help.

Click on the BLUE download button.
Wait for the clock to tick down, then click on the blue link that says Download file now

You want to save the file to your computer, not just open it.

Re: BIII bellows

My boat is a 1999. The manual says March 1998. Is this the correct manual?

Should be, do you have the serial number for the outdrive? or transom shield?

Serial # OL414170
Transom # OL5639B
2.20R
Can you tell me if the hinge pin tool (P/N 91-78310) is the same as a T-70 torx bit socket?

Re: BIII bellows

Yes, that is the correct manual.
No, it is not a Torx, use a 1/2" allen wrench and heat. From the factory, red locktite is used on the threads. 350? need to break the bond.

Re: BIII bellows

Got it. Allen socket and propane. I would have never thought that to be necessary. You guys are lifesavers. I would probably have rounded the pin.
