bilge access ?

i own a 91 baja islander 208. this boat has an electric over hydraulic engine cover lift and the unit has stopped working . i believe a wire has come off the actual pump. therefore it wont work and allow me access to my bilge area any ideas on how to access it. it seems to be sealed area with no access panels. it also has a wood uhpolsterd lid not fiberglass and thru hull exhaust. just picking everyones brain for ideas on how to get in to do repair thanks

You have probably already checked, but how about a fuse? Sounds like a situation that could cause a disaster...I would make sure I could open the hatch regardless of the pump next time. Perhaps an access panel next to the lift mechanism so as to be able to disconnect it and raise the hatch manually.<br />Good luck,

i,m almost forced to do some controlled demolition and hope the right things break when forced. i can always repair pulled out screws
