Searched but all the topics referring to this question were loaded with tons of general information/debates but all I really want to know is what size fuse should I use. It is a BlackMax 650 gph on a 12V system. I have a float switch hooked up inline as it is a trailered/garaged boat and I really don't need it to come on unless I am in the boat. Thanx for any help.

OOps, I mean 650 GPH. Look all over the pump to see if there is anything written about the wiring and power.

Re: Bilge Pump Fuse

Thanx for the response rick...I did and found nada. I looked at an Atwood that was 500 gph but didn't have the float switch and it called for a 2 Amp so I am thinking somewhere around 5 or 6 but was hoping one of the experts could confirm.

Not a real comon brand but found this one on eBay and it's 1100 gph, says it needs a 6amp fuse so I would think if you go to a 4 or 5 that should be more than enough. Black Max Bilge Pump

Ok, got a 5A fuse but when I got home I noticed it is 250V. I admit to being an electricity dummy. Will it work on the 12V system?

Yes, it will work....You can go over the volts, but not under...
