Bilge pump issues

I have a 16 foot conquest OB. My boat has been out of water for last 4+ years. I currently have a maual switch at stearing wheel. I will pull currentl one out to determin if it is working. I like the control of the switch but am wondering if I need to replace current bilge pump, what is best pump for size of boat. Next year, the boay will be left in water at dock for the season. So that raises a question about a float switch that will not drain the battery.

Lastly, not sure what else I should be asking or considering. Any help and advice would be appreciated.

I bought a pump with 800 gph and has a built in float.Get a 3 way switch with man,off and auto.Leave on auto 99 percent of the time and doesnt drain battery atall. When i park my boat in sept i leave everything hooked up and battery in place,in may i start motor again ,it has yet to fail!Winters are long and cold here.Ive accidently left bilge on manual for hours and boat still started.Draw is very minimal.Put 3 way switch where it cant be hit and shut off or get a flip up cover to prevent boo boos

I think my little boat might hold 800 goallons. Thanks. I was thinking about that size with manual switch and a float switch to make an automatic pump as well. Is there a model or manufacturer that stands out?

There are 2 main types of auto bilge pump configurations
1) The pump is wired through a mechanical "float" switch which is just a lever that will float up when the water level rises to a certain point and complete the circuit to turn on the pump
2) The pump has a built-in sensor that will check for water every few seconds and turn on if water is detected

The first option will not drain your battery if it is installed and wired properly, but the second option is SUPER simple to install and use. My 17' boat had a defective float switch which was always partially closed (due to poor installation by previous owner) I replaced and re-installed it and it works perfectly now, no battery drain whatsoever!
