Recently purchased a new used Wellcraft Martinique and going through and fixing some issues.
I just replaced a Johnson Bilge pump cartridge in my forward bilge. the old one was siezed and blowing the fuse. When I connected the power to the new one it turned on but wouldn't shut off so I thought I had a bum float switch. While troubleshooting the float switch if I remove the float switch and manually activate the float the pump turns on and off but when the float switch is connected to the pump housing it won't turn off - so I'm thinking there is a magnetic switch as well on the float switch which must be turned on via the helm rocker switch, correct?
I checked the 3 way rocker switch and I have some questions:
1. when I put the switch in the down position the aft bilge pump turns on - should both pumps turn on? Or should the forward bilge pump only turn on when the switch is placed in up position?
2. When I was checking the switch there was a y connector diode in line on the switch - what is this for? IN5820 diode.
