Guardian 500 Automatic Bilge Pump.

If the Manual Brown/White Wire and the Automatic Brown wire are wired to power at the same time would it affect the pump? Such as having a 2 position 2 pole switch, where one side was always hot (automatic) and the other was Manual. When the switch was off the bilge pump would be in automatic (float) mode, when the switch was on it would run manually. Would this hurt the pump?

Thanks
Ben

Re: Bilge Pump

I might have read that wrong but I think a 2 pole switch will only give you on/off. Using a 2 (or 3) position, 3 pole switch is about the only way to do what you are suggesting. Hooking both man. and auto wires together will just turn the unit on when you flip the switch. If your switch has three leads on the bottom, one for power, one for the auto and one for the manual then hooking it up as you said should not be a problem.

fish

Short answer to your question is NO (won't hurt it), what you need to do is run that brown wire (with a fuse or breaker) off to an always live 12v connection so that it will always work whether you are there or not. The manual brown wire can go off to your switch.(again it should be fused or breaker)
