I have a 12 ft vanguard power boat, do I need a bilge pump,why do some boats have a bilge pump and others don't, how does the water get into bilge tank?

What waters do you run in?As for as water getting in the bilge,it can come in anyway,boat in water?A 12' boat,chances are you don't have a battery in it,so a beer can with the top cut off will work!

lakes in & around where I live, yes I have a battery,50hp,I just don't understand how the water gets in, I think I'll go have a beer!

You can pump or bail, take your choice.<br />How does water get in? Leaks, spray, rain, condensation, spilled beer, hosing out spilled beer and/or fish slime, climbing in after swimming or skiing, etc.<br />Don't forget the ever popular leaving the plug out. :)
