Bimini sizes

I have a Carolina Skiff 16’ Center Console V Series and getting ready to order a bimini. There seems to be 2 choices. (1) Get a bimini which fits and looks good, but is only functional when anchored or motoring while sitting down. (2) Size the bimini so the operator can operate the boat while standing and not have to stoop to see ahead. It seems I will opt for (1) since I place comfort over style. Has anyone else gone through this when sizing up a bimini?

I just went through the same thing. A 36" height bimini for asthetics or a 48" height for practicality. I went with the 36" height as I thought the 48" would just look too awkward on a 17 ft boat.

Re: Bimini sizes

thanks jevery

I'm still on the fence with a decision. My other thought is that when using it and puttering along no wake zones where people will recognize me, I'll put the bimini down until out of their sight. There is so little dignity with a craft under 20'......until I tie it up to a dock that I own and then I feel much better. :)

I bought a 48 inch high for my 19 footer, well it looked like crap! I ended up cutting it down about a foot and it looks much better and i can still stand up with about 3 inches to spare..

My father has a tall one on his 17 footer. He also straps a tube to the top. Do I need to say any more? d:)
