Boats coming next week. Would like to order top made for the 1425 classic SS (side console).

Several questions. Since a Bimini from Lund is over $600 I'd like to buy one from a site like Overtons, Boatcovers etc.

Any recommendations?

Also if you have a similar brand model, Smokercraft, Sylvan, Alumacraft etc of this boat . . . how high is your bimini?
They seem to come in 3 heights. I don't know if I need to stand? If I get it too high it seems to me it will defeat the purpose of keeping the sun off you on hot days.

So how high is yours from the bow to the floor? Pics of what it looks like on your boat would be great. I'll be doing some down rigging for Lakers and I also like to go for bass.

I have it down to the sunbrella fabric and a 3 bow setup. I know my width is 76 inches so all I'm missing is the height. I'd like to get a jump on the delivery time for a bimini.

Do you think I should just order the 54 inch model and cut it down if it's too high for the 1425 classic?

Any experiences with sloppy fits even though a particular site says it's for the Lund 1425 classic SS or similar?

Any sites to stay away from?

Anyone using the "bimini butler" that allows you to adjust the height up and down? Does it make your top rickety or make it rattle and noisy?

Thanks

Lotsa questions here but any input/help appreciated since I figure I'll have to shell out $300 plus!

Re: Bimini top for a 2007 1425 Classic?

Well, I cannot help ya much. The Grumman (12 foot Vee) has the one that was on it when we bought it. We have used it once, as we took it off for windy wintertime fishing, and forgot to put it back. Come to think of it, I coulda used that last month. The boat is a tiller, with bench seats, so we are almost always sitting down. But, it has plenty of room to sit under comfortably, and I am 6'2" and dad is 6'3". Not in our way at all, yet still shades us a bit. The 15 foot Lund fish n ski, Which seems to be a similar height, deck to gunwale as yours, is gonna have a 50" as we are stone broke, and got it for FREE. I imagine we are gonna get used to ducking a bit (I am supposed to be 6'5" in 2.5 years (I am 14). Once you get used to it, I imagine it won't be a problem. You wont be fishing under it, (except for trolling - it won't hinder casting)
Sorry I cannot be of any more help.
Welcome to the forum BTW!;):D

Re: Bimini top for a 2007 1425 Classic?

Thx for your reply bassboy.
The first time I did a search before I asked my question it was in this Lund thread and I've read there are not a lot of Lund owners here.

So I did a search for "Bimini" in the search forums and came up with about 10 old responses to similar questions about bimini height.

Glad I found them because I was going to order the 54" which when you include the gunwale to floor it would be like 75-80" high.

Seems the 48" is perfect for most of the 6' foot high members.
Seems if one goes too high, it looks awful and during the late afternoon it won't block the sun.

Boat should be delivered in a few days and I'll check it out with me standing in the boat with a tape measure before I order it. Seems most people like to be able to stand up sometimes while driving their boat so a 48" looks to be the right height.

If your fish and ski bimini is 50" plus the measurement from gunwale to floor you can always cut down the frame to lower it. If it's 50" in total, you'll be a duck'in alrighty and the bonus is your boats gonna have a sleek racy European look to it. hahaha.

Enjoy your fishing season!

Re: Bimini top for a 2007 1425 Classic?

Our Lund has I believe 2 - 2.5 ish feet of free board from the deck. That works out to about 74 to about 80 ish inches. I am 74 inches tall, dad is 75, and I should be 77 in a few years. Should work out okay, and soon, before I get too tall, we should have another boat, an old broken bass boat to restore, so I will only have to use this for skiing (I am a bass angler - skiing only appeals if I find some girl that wants to go.:D) I could get used to ducking for that.
