Hello, I have a 16.5 ft bowrider and I am trying to decided what height and length I should order. I like to fish and do watersports and entertain on the boat. My concern is that if I get a lower bimini (30" high, 5' long, mounted from the windshield wings and would stand approx. 66", I am 6' tall ), it may get in the way for fishing and I will have to duck to go underneath. I measured 6' for my boat and I think it may be too long for the boat.

I know I will get more shade having it lower, and it will look a lot better, but I want to make sure in the long run that I buy something that is best for all occassions. Any suggestions would be great!

Re: Bimini Top Height and Length Suggestion

I have a 15' boat and a 6' bimini. I chose a walk under height so that it won't be in the way. It still gives great shade except early and late in the day when the sun isn't very strong anyway.
I have fished with it. The shade was really nice at noon. Early and late in the season I'll probably keep it off for Fishing.

Re: Bimini Top Height and Length Suggestion

I would go with the 6 foot length. My rig is only 14.9 and that length works great. I also mounted mine on the 24 inch sliding tracks, so I can move it forward or back two feet. But mine is not connected to the windshield.

Height is always bantered about in the forums. I would measure from the top of the gunnel to just over your head. Keep in mind it's higher in the center too. It's nice to be able to stand under it while driving to stretch your legs every now and then.

I bought a few of those plastic towel clips that clip a towel onto the bimini frame to give more shade when we are moored in a bay and the sun is low in the late afternoon.
