Hi, trying to get some views on this. If I buy a 36" tall bimini top, will I need to buy those slides that go on the gunwales so I can slide it to the back of the jump seats when not in use? I know it depends where the pivot point is attached, but with a top that's 6' long that will cover the drivers area, without the slides it will position the top in front of the jump seats when down. thanks-Russ

I think you answered your own question. (Unless you want the stowed bimini sitting in front of the jump seats.)

I have a 6' bimini and 3' sliders on an 18'er. This allows the bimini to stow sitting on the transoms edge and deploy a little forward of the windshield. The sliders also allow for repositioning of the bimini, fore-aft, to get better shade coverage.

You may need sliders longer than 3', depending on boat configuration and where you want shade. I kind of wished I had gone with 4' sliders.....

Re: Bimini top question

Ok good, now for my next question. Does a cockpit cover or mooring cover ,cover the bimini top also or just the boat with the bimini top outside of it. I have to have this made, but will buy the bimini top on line and install it myself

Re: Bimini top question

Do go with the sliders as it will be much easier to fine tune the placement of the top and will allow some variation when shade is in demand on those extremely hot days. As far as the mooring cover goes it can cover what ever you want, just need to tell your installer what it is you want covered. Your best bet is to have the bimini installed before getting the mooring cover made. In fact do any or all your installs, trim, tops, hardware etc before getting the mooring cover done to be sure of a proper fit. If you have a snug fitting cover then add ons at a later date may make your new mooring cover obsolete or require modifications.
