Bimini Top setup

My bimini top on the boat I was given is setup directly overhead.

When I took it to the lake, we trolled directly into the sun all morning and then turned around and trolled away from the sun all afternoon.

Is it okay to adjust the straps longer on the bow and shorter on the stern to get more shade, and then reverse the process for the afternoon ride back?

At trolling speeds you can do whatever the strap lengths allow. Faster I want it flat . . .
