Bimini Top size recomendations for a Lund SSV 18' SS Console

1st time buyer of a Bimini top...vassalating between a 3 bow (6"L/48"H)and 4 bow (8'L/54"H). I'm 68" tall and the floor to gunnel is 24". I'm pretty fair skinned, so can't tolerate the sun very long. Ergo, the Bimini top. Just not sure if I'd be better off with an 8' or 6'. Boat will be used pretty much exclusively by me for fishing...mostly trolling...in Maine on freshwater only. I know this all comes down to personal preference....just thought I'd throw it out there for any recommendations from folks who've faced the same/similar dilemma.

This one is about 7' on a 21' CC Mariner. Still have room in back to reel in the fish and tan in front for the wife and kids.

For yours it depends on where you mount it, fore or aft, and how much room you want for reeling in the big one.

The other issue to consider is how it stores. Mine has 3' slide tracks that allow it to slide back and lay at the front of the splashwell.

Best bet is to take the boat to a canvas shop and have one made specific to your boat and needs.

This is what I have, 18ft aluminum bass boat with side console. Purchased a 6 ft 3 bow and mine gives good sun protection for driver and passenger. Very easy to set up and take down with minimal room taken up when stored. If you order one consider height, a lower height will obviously give you more protection but less head room (depending on top you need there may be two different heights you could choose from). The slide track mentioned in another post is a good idea, if there is an issue of where your top lays in the stored position. Slide track will also allow for adjusting top forward or back when raised. Hope this helps.

Thanks to all for advice/info...settled on an tall (plenty of room to walk under it) 8' model that provides a tad more protection from the sun than the smaller ones...love it!!! Thanks again everyone...and, happy (safe) boating!
