Bimini Tops - Sunbrella or Sharkskin - Feedback Please!

Looking to finally add a bimini top to my 96 Glastron GS185.

Does anyone have any feedback on either brand? Both have a 5 year warranty, and prices are in the same ballpark.

The Sharkskin is much lighter in weight, but claims to last just as long as the Sunbrella brand.

Any opinions?

I bought a sharkskin last year and it has been great. It is light weight.I thought the Sunbrella was a good bit more expensive..
For the price i thought the sharkskin was very nice..

Assuming poles and fittings are the same quality for both tops, the Sunbrella is the one I would get.

The main reason is that the cost of the top itself is dominated by the labor invloved. It takes the same labor to build either top so the difference in price would be the cost of the material which should be relativley small.

If you forget about the warranty, which really does not mean much, you will get much more life out of the heavier Sunbrella top.

I ordered a Travel Tuff boat cover for my boat from Iboats and it is the best quality I have ever seen. It is made by Shoremaster. I think they make bimini tops, so you may want to consider this brand. They have double seams with UV resistant thread and repels stains very well...I am impressed with the quality.

They are all good quality.Sunbrella is w/o a doubt ,the best. You can even clean tough stains with bleach w/o any discoloration. Now thats tough stuff !!Charlie

Spend a couple of extra bucks and buy the storage boot. It prevents a lot of wear and dirt while not using it and can be removed to clean. I have one on my bimini and it's the best thing I ever bought.. I just throw the boot in the waser once a year.
