If it floods then the gas has to come out somewhere. Its black because the carbon. Shouldn't be running gas out of the exhaust unless its flooding. Sounds like a carb problem to me/

The prop is where the exhaust is. The reason its leaking is probably because its flooding the cylinders and filling them up with gas and its running out the prop/exhaust.

Whats could possibly cause it to flood because it worked the night before it stopped running?

I used starting fluid to try and get it to fire and nothing came out of it.

Maybe its not firing therefore when you turn it over the fuel pump just keeps pumping more and more gas in the cylinders

test the plugs to see there all firing. and check to make sure all coil are firing. Take spark plug out and hook it up to wire and ground it out on the block and crank it over. If it fires test next coil. then next. If all 3 coils have a good blue hot spark then check carbs. Id bet its a coil went bad. post back if they fire or not.

stop using starting fluid it will melt the pistons down.

take the plugs out and test each one to see if its firing. may have a coil bad or something. What kind of engine do you have?

If you sprayed starting fluid in there and it didn't crank its definitely not firing right

What year is your motor? was it hard to keep running before this problem, was it hard to start?, what gas oil ratio are you using? How long did the motor set before you got it? A lot of things could cause this..I just bought my boat and its a 1977 85 hp Johnson javelin also..and it did just like yours... I bought a repair manual and rebuilt the carbs.. had trash in the carbs. These guys helped me a lot but first get you a repair manual and read it and read it again it really helps. The guys here know what they are doing and will help you as they did me. If I were you take the plugs out and look at them if they are wet or really black with carbon you have a flooding problem which is bad on a 2 cycle.

Look elsewhere for your restarting problem.

Black liquid is normal. Excess fuel and gas will always drain from the prop on that motor. It also has no recirculation system and any excess left in the system will drain out with/through the exhaust, which is through the propeller.
