Hi all. I have a 17' runabout with a home built aluminum hull extension. The engine is fairly new to new so I'm still working out some bugs.
Currently, I can set the rpms to about 3200 rpm, but the engine creeps to about 4k, running well the whole time.
I have traced this to a looseish throttle cable. I have yet to see where the slack is, but I suspect that it's in the controller I inherited. It's a 'Quicksilver' design.
It's a problem because I go from 18 to about 23-24 knots, which in waves becomes the speed at which my boat takes flight lol.
So, my question is, is this a common issue? The 135 seems to have a pretty sensitive throttle control.
Thanks,
Chay
