1991 Black Max 135 hp.

Has been running fine, no indications of any trouble when last run. Engine cranks normally but does not start.

Dead man switch is in RUN position.

Oil is full in both reserviours and caps tight. Oil line has oil visible up to mixing valve.

Fuel bulb does feel abnormally stiff. Can feel some fuel pressure when fuel line to carbs is pinched between fingers and bulb is pumped. Can hear choke solenoid click when choke selected.

Spark plugs had alot of oil on them- cleaned and they have good spark when checked against block. Re-installed and cranked again. Light oil/gas mix on plugs but still no start.

Engine control does its normal 3-beep signal when first activated. Other than that, it does not make a sound (low oil, overheat etc).

Engine is in overall mint condition otherwise. Any words of wisdom or advice??

Welcome to iboats.

If those plugs are oily, then you might have run low on gas and started starving it. The oil pump would've still been pumping full oil, so you might have an oil-rich mixture in your carbs. Try draining one and see what comes out.

Thanks. The gas tank is half full and it was running right up to the trailer the last time it worked. I'll check the bowls as you suggested.

The oil on the plugs was dark brown. After cleaning and re-cranking, they had a light colored, oil mist. I may have been mistaken about the gas on them. Maybe it was just oil residue from the cylinder.

There appears to be a fuel regulator that is vacuum operated and allows the fuel and oil to be mixed and sent on to the carbs. Is that how it works?

Thanks again for your reply and I'll let you know what I find...
