It has been really hot here this summer, so boating has not been on hold. It's not a lot of fun to sit in 100* heat on a lake with no breeze.
Because of that, my boat has only been started about 10 or so times this season, with the last time a month ago. Saturday, I tried to start the motor after charging the batteries and it won't catch. The primer stays firm, there is gasoline in the carbs, plugs are clean etc.
The odd thing is that it tries to start and then kicks the starter out. I think that if the starter motor could turn the motor over longer, it would fire right up every time. This will go on 10 or so times before the motor will finally turn over enough to run. Of course at start-up a giant cloud of smoke forms from the unburned fuel inside the motor but that goes away fast.
Once it starts, no problems, lots of power and nice even idle. Lots of smoke, but that's the way those 150's run.
I did a de-carb last time out and the motor runs a bit smoother, I may do that again.
Any ideas as to waht I can do to solve this?
Thanks
