Black max fuel pump/crankcase gasket?

Hey guys got a 89 175 hp black max, I had it out the other day and I had noticed while the cowl was off some gas was spitting out from behind the fuel pump (square type). It seemed to have some force to it and it was pulsing, like it was being pushed out. I have noticed a fuel leak somewhere under the cowl before, but the primer ball gets very stiff with no lines or gaskets leaking under pressure. So when I got it home I took the pump off of the block real quick to inspect. I found that the back of the fuel pump has a hole, with no gasket, that mates up to another hole on the engine block. I'm assuming this is the pulse from the crankcase that powers the pump. My question is (and I could not find A THING on the rest of the internets about it), is there a gasket that goes here? Maybe one of the smaller fuel lines was wedged between them causing the leak, I dunno. Have any of you guys ever experienced this? Any help is appreciated guys.

Yes, see Item #13 below.

Perhaps, but doubt it, most likely the diaphragm(#9) leaking if ya never have rebuilt it.

I suppose it's possible w/o a gasket thou(sorta strange not to have one btw, you're sure it's not stuck to the block?), it could possibly be a wee bit of intake fuel that is collecting/coming out of the pulse hole then leaking out from between the two metal surfaces(#14 and the block) and running down the block. The pump uses crankcase pressure to drive the diaphragm which is air mixed w fuel of course.

No, but it is a normal wear(primarily #2, #4's, #9) item/s. Kits are cheap, ya might wanna rebuild since you're there.

They're a good lil pump. Once re-built(or to test), shoot/pulse it via the pulse hole in #14 with compressed air reg'd down to 15-20 psi w the fuel inlet in some fuel. If working properly, it'll pick up fuel as you pulse it and it should hold pressure on its fuel outlet port and very slowly leak down to zero in say......10/15 mins.

#13 gasket seen in lower left of pic btw.

Wow thanks for the thorough response... I can't seem to get to the link you sent tho. I actually just re built the pump and was unaware of this gasket, so im assuming its somewhere buried in the cowl. I guess this would explain the motor dying after about 2 mins of idle. Would it be possible to order just the gasket or would I have to buy a fuel pump kit again? Thanks again for the replies.

Hmmm, so seems this site is still screwed up(beyond the double posting, timeouts in forever loops in the "working" screens and basically all image managements in general ), yes yes, i know, there are children starving in Africa and iboats is free, I'm just an outgroup kinda guy, Janis lives!!!......I can see the images I posted on the puter I posted them with, but only using the browser I posted it with, chrome!!

If I open IE on this same puter, sign in, it shows the images link broken as you have reported. So, I jumped on another puter and open this post w that puter's browsers, both chrome and safari, it shows them broken as well.

Seems someone is using my cache history to fool me into thinking my images are actually posting.....Hmmm.

So now back, and back on the original posting puter after clearing all my chrome caches and signing back in(this site couldn't find its cookies to auto sign me in), POOF, the images are broken, How Cute!!!

I shall go back up and try to re-post them
