I picked up another basket case, Got the other running and gone and picked up another basket case. I am looking for any info on this engine, And location of a service manual because there has been a little rigging, and things not connected and i just wanna make sure i get it back to how it should be,

Also on this V6 can the starter be rebuilt? as the one on it is locked tight, Do they sell brush kits for these?

yes...easy rebuild... I take all of my starters apart and use cocus cloth around the comutator where the brushes make contact and clean it up...Spin it in a drill and have someone hold the cloth around it..works great........

Re: Black Max + starter rebuild

Thanks, the more i look over this boat the more of a basketcase it is lol. This engine is on a 1980 Ranger 168V, I am looking at a 1988 Ranger that has a Hull in great shape would it be wise to just get the 88 model and swap the engine to it? As the 80 model has peeling Gel coat, bad wiring etc? Hull and Transom seem solid just the noted problems i never delt with peeling Gel coat before.

Also the power tilt and trim doesn't seem to work its full of fluid and when i trigger the T&T solenoid one of the other i just hear the T&T motor but no action.
