I picked up an old Venture bass boat with a Black Max V6,
The previous owner stated the motor was an 175hp engine but did not know the year. He had problems with it and the local marina said it had low compression and was bad.
I bought the boat and checked the compression and it was pretty good. I had to disconnect the kill switch and temp switch and then it came to life and sounds good in the tank(both shorted to ground). Anyway we are going to lake test it after it gets a new water pump(no water pumping). Hopefully it is ok, the lowest cylinder tests around 120 when the rest are 135-ish.
I would like to know what year and HP this engine is or where I could find out.
