On the way back from a cruise late Sunday afternoon we noticed another boat having engine problems. We went over and gave them a tow back to their boat dock. In the process of connecting the tow line to our boat we mistakenly stepped on the fuel feed line going into our engine disconnecting the line. The engine was running at idle and never died. The hose was probably disconnected for a minute before we realized what happened. I reconnected the hose and we idled for 15 minutes back to our boat dock. I tried to advance the throttle and the engine would miss and sputter. I suspect we probably have air in the fuel system. Is there a procedure to bleed the fuel system? I have a service manual on order but It has not arrived from Mercury yet.
