My 2012 Tie Down model 66 surge actuator took a dump. The back up solenoid failed. So I attempted to disassemble things to get a new solenoid. Well, the old one had a rusted case, rusted safety cable, that bad solenoid, and I could not find the master cylinder gasket.
I thought about making a gasket and just putting in the solenoid. But I though better of it and ordered a complete replacement actuator. It's mid summer and I need my trailer available if something goes wrong with my boat. At 31 years since manufacture, there are lots of opportunities for things to go wrong. So I looked at getting a higher brand actuator but that would require redrilling my trailer tongue, something I am afraid I will botch.
So I got the next gen Tie Down which uses the same bolt pattern. And as a bonus, the Tie Down logo uses nearly the same blue as my Kodiak brake calipers. So it will look good and function.
My question is, can I use a MityVac to suction bleed a pressure bleed system? Tie Down says to pressure bleed, I don't own a pressure bleeder, but i could probably take one home from my work in a pinch. I can hand pump it too. But I do have a MityVac so I thought if anyone knows, I'd attempt to suction it down.
I'll probably follow the manufacturers instruction, but this makes me curious.

About $8 and you an get a Harbor Freight hand vacuum pump for bleeding brakes, I have a couple of them around here and they do what they are advertised to do.

He has a MitiVac, which is a higher quality version of the Harbor Freight tool.

I don't know what a MitiVac is I use the hand vacuum pumps and I have an AC pump that I have used as well to draw a vacuum on AC systems.

I just looked it up, looks like it would work just fine.

I have the same actuator with Kodiak disc.

Bleed brakes old school method. Large screw driver (actuate brake) and clear plastic tubing. Put fluid recovery container on top of fender and it’s a one man job.

FWIW: ordered HF kit. Didn’t make it through1st bleed job . Went back to old school
