Block boring question......?

A friend of mine just purchased a boat and motor, only the motor on the boat was knowingly bad in that the top piston was toast. The numbers on the motor are as follows: Evinrude 60 hp 3 cylinder Model # TE60TLESM . From what I can gather this is a 1990 model. Once the head was removed, I noticed the motor had previously been rebuilt. The bottom two pistons were .020 over and the top piston is a .040 over piston. Question...... What is the maximum recommended boring diameter of this block. Is it recommended or NOT advisable to go .060 over with this block? Thanks in advance for any help you guys can offer................. 40 over is max ,but cyl.can be re-sleeved,my answer is based on having rebuilt powerheads for a rebuilder ,we used wiesco pistons and that was max over at that time,if you can find a manufacterer that makes 60 over ,I guess it will be ok,but I'm sue its cutting it close. The v-4' had a 64 over avail.

This time make sure the carbs are rebuilt. Generally a burn down is caused by a lean condition due to improper carburetion. Failure to figure out what caused the failure will probably result in you rebuilding it again.

Thanks guys. I already advised him of the carb rebuilds Silvertip..... :) ...... But, to me, detonation appears to have been the culprit as 2 large chunks are missing from the piston in question. The other two look fine. I suppose it could have been from a faulty carb though. In my book, they should be rebuilt anyways. I'll run the information by him and let him know what his options are. I figured .040 over was max, I just wasn't sure. Thanks a bunch for the input gentlemen............. ALAN
