Blower Configuration

I have an '87 SportCraft Bowrider and want to know how the blowers should be set up. I have two air scoops on the rear of the boat (one on each side) and would like to know if these are air inputs, or if these are where the blower pushes the air out (or maybe one of each). I know my blower motor works because I can hear it, but I want to make sure that I am not just blowing fumes back into my engine.

The blower PULLS the air out of the bilge. The outside vents should be set up so one faces each direction.

So the vent that is facing forward is there to bring fresh air into the engine compartment and the other rear facing vent is there to allow the blower to force air out of the engine compartment.

Is this correct?

I would go turn it on and then put your hand over your exhaust vent, the one facing towards the rear of the boat. Should have a pretty good flow of air coming out. What happens many times, is mud dobbers (look like a wasp) will make a nest in there and can plug it up with mud. This happened to mine, had to remove the vents and clean it out. Had one nest the size of a baseball. My setup is a little different. I have two vents on each side of the boat to force air in while running (both face forward) and a vent thats at the upper center of the transom of the boat where the air escapes. The transom vent is divided, one side is for force air to escape, the other the blower is attached to expell air before start-up. Sometimes I run it will tooling around at slow speeds to help pull the hot air out.
