I am new here and new to owning a boat. I bought a 98 Maxum 2300 SR. On my dash there is no switch for the blower motor and in the engine bay what looks like should be the blower tube isn't hooked up anywhere, its just kind of hanging out in there. I searched google for some info on the blower on this boat and haven't found much. How do I turn the blower motor on, where is it, and where does the tube need to be hooked up? Thanks for any help.

Re: Blower Motor

The discharge side of the blower should be connected to a hose that discharges to a vent on the side or rear of the boat. There is normally a short piece of hose connected to the inlet side of the blower that reaches low in the engine compartment to suck in explosive gases from fuel vapors etc... Low in the engine compartment cuz vapors are normally heavier then air. But not so low that water in the bilge could block the inlet. Ya pickin up what Im puttin down ?:joyous: R U sure the blower isnt hooked up to a aux dash switch ? Thats kind of wierd...

Theres a vent right beside the fuel fill on the back of the boat. Is this the vent you are talking about? Also there is only one Aux switch and the only thing it turns on is the radio. I thought this switch may be for the blower but after tracing the wires it only goes to the radio.

Im picturing the vent you are talking about as the fuel tank vent...??? How big is it ? The blower motor hose is like a 3-4 in Diam hose... Would hook up to a larger vent Maybe a round 4 in or a 3x10 in piece. You would most likely have 2. One on the port side and one on stbd. One for intake-not hooked up to the blower, and one for discharge... hooked up to to da blower...

I don't have any pictures, I can take some tomorrow. Pretty sure the vent is for the fuel tank, its right beside the fuel fill hole. Theres a 4" hose in the engine compartment but it isnt hooked to anything on either end. The hose is on the starboard side and its pretty torn up.

Look around the higher end of the hose for signs that something might have been mounted there. Also look for a pair of wires that may be hanging or laying in the bilge. How about listing the names of the switches at the helm.

Just want to make sure you know not to try and start the boat until you have a functioning blower or the engine hatch raised, getting plenty of air/ventilation and smelling that there are no gas fumes present?

I know its a big deal, and I don't want to blow myself up so that's why I'm asking for help.

I went to the net and typed in your boat and all the dash pictures show at least 6 toggle switches. I can't believe that the AUCG would let any builder make an enclosed boat without a blower and switch to operate it.

The Bower Hose and Vent are going to be the same size as the Blower itself.

You should have a 4 inch blower on a boat that size.
So the hose should be 4 inches, usually plastic, with a spiral wire wrapping it.
It looks a lot like the ducting on your home Laundry Dryer.
It will be big enough to put your arm inside, so it should not be too hard to find in the boat! :D

Re: Blower Motor

Ok I got everything figured out. There isn't a toggle switch for the blower, but there is a turn switch for it. Right beside the ignition (I'm an idiot). And as far as the tube the one end was near the blower motor and the other end just goes thru a small hole in the port side corner of the engine cover board, so the hose opening goes to outside air in the back of the boat.
