Blowing fuses when starting

Last week as I launched my boat the motor started then stopped right away. Thinking it had something to do with the problems I was having with the trim switch, I replaced it. Now, everytime I turn the key, the fuse blows. I have gone through two packs of fuses trying to figure this one out. Any ideas what is going on here?

Sorry crystal ball is in the shop right now/ d:) but if you could give us some idea of what kind, size, year of engine you are working on it would help. If it wasn't doing before you replaced the trim switch (assuming it's on your throttle/gearshift) then possibly you've pinched or shorted a wire in the control box.

u need to look at the motor wires, u have a short somewhere, could be wires rubbing or corrosion on the harness or corrosion on the key switch or maybe a bad fuse panel

u need a meter and test things out

There's a fuse that shuts your engine off? In addition to Bob's questions also please state where this fuse is located, what circuit it's on, and what amp rating you're using. And what troubleshooting steps you've taken (other than replacing the fuse and turning the key) and whether they had any effect.

and welcome to iboats!

[sometimes you can save a lotta fuses (and cuss words) by temporarily wiring in a circuit breaker for troubleshooting problems like this]
