Well, I had another thread going here....
http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?p=1584508#post1584508
but narrowedi it down to what I am almost positive is an engine problem so I thought I would post here instead....
I have a 1991 Evinrude 40hp that functioned fine before swapping out the powerhead (Well, except for the fact that it only had 60 psi on the top cylinder) I tried to get it running and it cranked once and didn't have any power. Turned out to be the "main" fuse in the junction box of the motor. I replaced the fuse and never got to the part about cranking it before it popped the fuse again. I've noticed that when I choke it (push in the key) that the voltage drops quite a bit but the battery has enough juice to crnak the motor over fine. Somewhere I have a wiring issue I am pretty sure. Any ideas? Is it possible the choke solenoid is the problem? All the electronics and stuff got swapped over from the old powerhead. I am just about at the end of my rope. I have checked as many connections as I can get to, checked the batteries, used an ohmmeter and checked the grounds....What else?
