Troubleshooting a no p-stream issue. I was told I could blow air back through the p-hole, but to have the engine running with muffs or a tub of water. I did have some gunky looking stuff trickle out of the hole when using a weed wacker line to check it. Is it ok to blow air in as noted and if so, how much pressure can be used? Assuming plugged as it has new impeller and t-stat looks good...... any response appreciated......

It sounds like you have removed or are in the process of removing a mud dauber nest from the tube. I wouldn't pressurize that line, just keep working the trimmer line until you get some flow when running and let the exit water pressure clean it out.
