blown gasket

Picture.jpgPicture 002.jpgPicture 001.jpgi have a 1973 650 mercury 65hp after changing the impeller i noticed a little bit of water coming from my #1 plug i took off the plate and the gasket right there was in pretty bad shape i dont really think the water was coming from the cylinder im sure its just the gasket but im not sure what that gaskets called can someone help me does this sound right

Cylinder head water jacket cover gasket. Is that the question?

Those leak all the time.

Yeah thanks chris could this cause water to be coming out around the plug or cause it to not run right I'm going to replace it it's only 7 bucks I don't think the water is coming right out the plug cause it's tight to the cylinder that's pretty in possible but it's hard to see I don't see any cracks on the cylinder I'll just hope for the best

They leak around the plug all the time. That is not the reason it doesn't run right, however. You might take a compression and spark test and post results.
