Blue Band Merc 7.5 not peeing at idle.

This is just background, the motor is made up from a '76 and '77. The '76 had bad powerhead and the '77 had a corroded solid leg. Salt water does that. I replaced the impeller when I put them together. From the looks of the impeller, I had a guess as to why the powerhead went bad,. After much pushing wire around the pee hole in the block, I had good flow even at idle. These are not easy motors to flush. We went travelling last summer so I didn't use the boat and motor, but hoped to get out this spring. Lakes only, I don't use it on the ocean. If I rev her a little in the barrel I got flow. Bearly ran it though.

If the 77 was a salty could still have deposits.

Is it possible that the water pump cup is worn or out of round? Also some of the cheap aftermarket impellers are too hard to pump well at an idle . Those impellers are very small and not forgiving if everything isn't absolutely perfect.

I think I have might gotten one of the last Quicksilver impeller kits, and it was royal pain to install. So it was tight . It had worked. What do you do to clean the water passages? I found the '77 in the park when I was walking the dog, so I turned it in to the police. A month later, it was mine. My guess is it was "stolen" when they realized it was seized.

I have been trying to convince the chief financial officer that we need a newer 15hp 2-stroke for the 12' tinny without any luck. I'll like to be able to run it on the river. So I better keep 7.5hp top notch.

Salt away and a garbage can. Keep an eye on the temps while doing that

THX, That worked. It's good stuff. I found it in a Yamaha dealer.

Having got it peeing, there is now one less problem, on to the next problem discovered in the flushing. .It would stall out after idling awhile, like it was running out of gas. I would pump the bulb then be able to start her. It also idled rough

Could be running lean.
