Hi All,

I have been to Beltzville a few times, thinking about heading to Blue Marsh. Does anyone have any advice/recommendations?

1. I see on a map there is a boating beach for Blue Marsh, Beltzville does not seem to have a very good one from what I can see. Anyone use this?

2. I have looked online and can't seem to find any camping facilites, does anyone know if there are any nearby?

Thanks for any help.

Best,

The boating beach at Blue Marsh is not bad, but Blue Marsh can be very crowded on the weekends; if you don't get there by 6 or 7 am you may have to wait half the day to get on the lake. Neither lake allows any camping or sleeping overnight on the boat. Both lakes are heavily patrolled by guys who like writing citations. This still doesn't stop the idiots. Lake Wallenpaupack is a better choice all around.

Back when I trailered, we often went to Blue Marsh. If the wait at the ramp was too long we went a little farther up Rt 183 to the Sheidy (fish commission) ramp. I can't ever remember waiting more than 15 minutes to launch up there. The downside to that ramp is that it's a loooooong ride to get outta the no-wake zone. At least it was scenic, and I even trolled for fish a few times. As far as the rest of the lake, it usually gets very rough on weekends in the afternoon due to boat wakes, making it difficult to ski. Also, there are some shallow areas- especially if the lake level is down. Keep an eye on the sounder.
There's a roped-off swimming beach at the "day use area" but it's off limits to boats (no big deal).
SuperNova's right, no camping at Blue Marsh, and I don't know of any local campgrounds.
