Recently found an outfit selling bottom paint on the internet based in n.j. They offer a 56% copper ablative paint for $75 a gallon. They claim this paint to be equivalent to acp50.Has anyone used this paint in the past and how did it perform? If I do not get any negative reports I will be trying it out on my 30 ft. sea ray this season. The name of the paint is Blue Water marine paint. I have allready sanded the existing modified epoxy paint with 60 grit and feathered any failed areas. Also removed the old sea ray boot top tape using a heat gun and then acetone to get off the old glue. Found out the trick was to try and apply just enough heat to start the old tape to peel and then carefully pull it back on itself , this method minimized the amount of glue left to remove.I am probably going to mask off and paint the new stripes instead of using tape.Any one know what the best material to fill stress cracks might be? Im thinking of using marine tex.

Bill

Handball, I would use the marine tex or equivelent epoxy filler below the water line, but above the waterline I would use a polyester filler, it is not as hard and will fair in much better with the surrounding hull material..
